Magical Christmas traditions …

Christmas dog image

Baking cookies for Santa, carol singing with your friends at the top of your lungs, writing Santa letters, hanging your Christmas stockings on the 10th of December, finding the orange at the bottom of the stocking (or the lump of coal!), leaving empty Santa sacks under the tree, BBQ on the beach Christmas Eve or dressing your dog up as Santa and parading him in all his glory?! So many wonderful and special things we all do to make this time of the year magical and memorable.

Share with us some of your special Christmas traditions.

We will be giving away 20 FREE SANTA LETTERS* to families who share with us their most magical Christmas traditions. We would LOVE to hear from you. Simply share them on our Facebook page or  email us at at support@lovefromsanta.com.au to be in with a change to WIN!

And if you need some inspiration, or just a light hearted magical Christmas read check out some of the most bizarre & delightful christmas traditions from around the world in this cool article .

I’ve list the ones that tickle our Fancies the most at Love From Santa …

From Norway:

It is believed in Norway that on Christmas Eve, witches roam the skies along with other mischievous spirits. Since a witch’s prime mode of transportation is a broom, families hide all of their cleaning supplies attached to sticks, to stop the witches from stealing them.

From Iceland:

Why have one Santa Claus when you can believe in 13? That’s what children do in Iceland, where the “13 Yule Lads” are said to come to town two weeks before Christmas, and leave after the holiday. Once depicted as mischievous, they have taken on a more benevolent role in recent years.

From the Ukraine:

In the Ukraine, there’s a legend that a poor widow found a Christmas tree growing in her yard during the summer months. Her children were thrilled to finally have a tree, but she didn’t have money to decorate it. When the family woke up Christmas morning, a spider had spun a web around the tree, decorating it for the family.

When the youngest child opened the window on Christmas day and light hit the web, the web turned to silver and gold. Stemming from that legend, now people in the Ukraine hide spider webs in their trees and whoever finds it Christmas day will have good luck that year.

The Santa letter ‘creep’!?

October 19, 2015 By Pippa

So when did the 2015 Christmas Creep start?

Christmas Creep

See the link below from the Daily Telegraph that talks about CHRISTMAS CREEP 2015! Seems this year Christmas has started as early as August in some places around the world – and not just small places we are talking Selfridges in the UK, David Jones in Australia and Target too – selling Christmas wrapping paper, Christmas stockings and even new ranges of Christmas toys.

Personally we think that’s just a bit wrong, and totally creepy!

Poor ole Santa his holidays are getting cut shorter & shorter … and will the magical Santa letter join the ‘creep’ trend as well, however will Santa keep track?!

Too early for Christmas … Santa letters, Santa stockings and even Santa sacks???

October 9, 2015 By Pippa

55d4cea114000077002e3692

It’s October, and I’m wondering if it’s too early to mention Christmas … or not?

Are you eagerly awaiting the time when its acceptable to hang the Santa stockings? Have you secretly been googling Santa sacks, Santa letters and cool new ideas for wrapping presents this year? Or NOT (definitely not)?!

Are you one of the organised and Christmas enthusiasts like 30% of the UK population who start shopping September (the official term for such people and organisations who embrace Christmas at this stage is the ‘Christmas Creep/ers‘) OR are you one of the more ‘wait until December’ people (which it seems are dwindling in numbers these days)?

Originally, way back in the day, the Christmas season was only for 12 days – the days that stretched from Christmas Day itself to January 6th, but the economic opportunities even as far back as the early 1900’s saw this season stretch out substantially to be more in line with the Christian Advent Season which started at the beginning of December. And it seems we have evolved from this even further, no matter where you are in the world … with Christmas starting most acceptably at the end of October.

I’m pretty happy and comfortable about that – but thats because I love it!

Today we have officially opened the Love From Santa doors today for Christmas 2015 – with 11 wonderful weeks of Christmas anticipation, wonderful, excitement and magical fun ahead of us. Checkout our beautiful range of Santa stockings and Santa sacks + our really gorgeous and cleverly written Santa Letters.

I think I have officially put Christmas on your radar now, if it still feels a little uncomfortable thats OK, we will be here waiting when you are ready.

x

PS I love this shot from the Huffington Post! Doesn’t it just encapsulate all that is wonderful about Christmas? This was taken in AUGUST.
